About Us

The Jacksonville Area Speech Pathology Association (JASPA) has been a viable, independent, professional organization since 1989. It was founded by a hospital-based ASHA-certified speech-language pathologist. The executive board consists of volunteers who are experienced, ASHA-certified speech-language pathologists who have been elected by the membership. JASPA is not affiliated with any state or national association.

Our Mission

The objectives of JASPA are professional, clinical educational, scientific and charitable and are designed ultimately to encourage the highest quality of life for individuals with communication and swallowing disorders. Among these objectives are:

To promote quality service to persons with communication and swallowing disorders by providing pertinent continuing education for speech—language pathologists in clinical practice

To promote exchange of information and ideas among its members

To promote research that contributes to better understanding and management of communication and swallowing disorders

To establish and support liaisons with related professional organizations

Continuing Education

Continuing Education seminars are available every month with the exception of June, July and November. Meetings are typically held on the second Tuesday of the month at our new meeting location, Brooks Rehabilitation Hospital, unless otherwise noted. Monthly meetings begin at 6pm and last 2 hours for 0.2 ASHA and FL approved CEUs. See our Continuing Education Schedule.
